Gas Piping & Gas Log Installations

“At Son Plumbing, Inc we go all the way to insure that our gas work is installed air-tight, with the proper permits and an inspector’s approval. We install all gas logs to manufacturer’s specifications and give each customer personalized lessons on how to operate their newly installed gas log fireplace. We take extra care in keeping the customer’s home clean by laying down drop cloths and vacuuming our work area when finished.” – Peter Hill

A: Yes, good quality logs that are properly installed.

A: Yes, a good quality vent-free gas log unit can heat up to about a thousand square-feet of living space for about thirty-six to thirty-eight cents an hour.

A: First and foremost it is required by code. The other added benefit is that it gives the customer peace of mind because the gas work has been approved by an inspector. The inspection verifies to the homeowner that the gas piping has been properly installed so it is air-tight, code compliant and safe.

A: Energy Efficiency. The money you spend in gas to run a vent-free gas log unit, is returned to you in heat.
A wood burning fireplace sends the heat up the chimney.

A: The vent-free gas log units produce heat and are very energy efficient. Vented gas log units cost more to operate and Gas Code requires the damper to be removed. This causes all the heat to go right up the chimney. Both types can have an odor until they have been cured by several hours of burning.

A: A quality vent-free gas log product properly installed will have no carbon monoxide risk. Vented gas logs do produce carbon monoxide; that is why Gas Code requires dampers to be removed in the installation process.
